The story behind Regterschot Racing
In 2019, Erik Regterschot founded his first company, ScootCar Erik Regterschot. It was a garage where he focused on scooters at various locations.
By 2020, he realized that scooters did not fulfill his passion and that his true love was for cars. So, he reoriented his business to Regterschot Racing, with a grander vision in mind.
Throughout 2020, Erik and Mika Tuijp worked on transforming the garage while balancing their studies and work. Over time, their focus shifted more toward performance cars.
Erik Regterschot, Mika Tuijp, and Dana Groner started a student project at the HAN University of Applied Sciences, aiming to revolutionize amateur motorsports. Our goal was to introduce innovation and digitalization while mentoring fellow students in these fields.
The project launched in September, initially attracting 14 students and eventually growing to 35 participants from various disciplines across 6 courses, 4 academies, and 2 schools. Our shared mission was to develop a zero-emission race car by 2028. Meanwhile, our garage activities thrived, with a primary focus on race cars. Erik and Mika balanced their weekend work with studies and project management to ensure the smooth operation of the project.
In May, we unveiled our first test race car as an introduction to the motorsport industry and as a platform to evaluate the new components and data logging systems developed by the students. On May 13, we participated in our first DNRT race and achieved an impressive 4th place.
